Angels of Assisi received a $500,000 grant investment from the newly named, Petco Love, to support their lifesaving work for animals in Roanoke, VA, and surrounding communities. The grant will be used for the construction of Angels of Assisi’s new Community Pet Hospital and Adoption Center.
Petco Love is a nonprofit leading change for pets nationally by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since their founding in 1999 as the Petco Foundation, they’ve empowered organizations with nearly $300 million invested to date in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And, they’ve helped find loving homes for more than 6.5 million pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations, like ours, nationwide.
“Today Petco Love announces an investment in Angels of Assisi and hundreds of other organizations as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessary euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only one component. This month, we will also launch the first of our national tools to empower all animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us.”
“With the support of Petco Love, Angels of Assisi will be able to continue and expand our lifesaving work through our new Community Pet Hospital and Adoption Center,” said Lisa O’Neill, Executive Director. “The new facility will enable our team to improve the lives of homeless, abandoned, and neglected animals as well as the lives of people who love their pets.”
Angels of Assisi is a nonprofit organization that is changing the role of an animal shelter to include resources, programs, and services to benefit the pets in Roanoke and surrounding communities. Since 2001, Angels of Assisi has performed 141,453 spay/neuter surgeries, 196,527 wellness/sick exams, formed 19 transport partners and found over 25,000 animals their forever homes.
